THOUGHTS
Somewhere between CONTENTMENT and ANXIETY... we live our lives.
The Bible praises the first and discourages the second. Our TRUST and
FAITH in God is what keeps us in the first and away from the second.
One of my favorite saying is “Worry is the
interest you pay... on a debt you do not owe!”
The physical beckons way too loudly some times. The world can haunt us in
many ways. The “How am I going to do that/” crowds out “MY GOD WILL
PROVIDE”! Together this morning, let’s do a small scripture RESET.
CONTENTMENT oozes from the following passages.
Prov 30:8-9 Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty
nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, 9 That I not
be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or that I not be in
want and steal, And profane the name of my God.
Eccl 3:12-13 I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice
and to do good in one’s lifetime; 13 moreover, that every man who
eats and drinks sees good in all his labor — it is the gift of God.
Matt 6:11 ‘Give us this day our daily
bread.
Matt 6:25-33 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or
what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than
food, and the body more than clothing? 26 "Look at the birds of the air, that
they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Are you not worth much more than
they? 27 "And who of you by being worried can add a single
hour to his life? 28 "And why are you worried about clothing?
Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed
himself like one of these. 30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which
is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more
clothe you? You of little faith!
31 "Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or
‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 "For
the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows
that you need all these things. 33 "But seek first His kingdom and
His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Heb 13:5-6 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being
content with what you have;
for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER
FORSAKE YOU," 6 so that we confidently say, "THE
LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"
Isa 41:10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look
about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help
you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God [is]
for us, who [is] against us?
My Prayer:
Oh Father God, we praise you for your might and power and wisdom and
love. Thank you for being continually mindful of us. Increase our
faith and chase from us our worry.
In Jesus Name
Amen
